- Deteriorating ice and snow
- Potential for minor ice jamming
Snowpack across the watershed is slowly deteriorating with the warmer temperatures, with melting anticipated to continue through the weekend as temperature remain above freezing with 5-10 mm of rain. The loss of snowpack may elevate water levels and contribute to saturated soils and ponding.
Residents are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous ice conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.
Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
