The Conservation Authority works with its member municipalities to install appropriate riverbank and shoreline protection to help protect vulnerable development and to undertake studies relating to the protection of life and property from flood and erosion threats. Prior to 1996, grants were available through the Ministry of Natural Resources. Although these grants are no longer available, municipalities still utilize the expertise of the Conservation Authority to manage capital projects related to flood and erosion control. Much of the work undertaken in the last decade has focused on erosion protection along Lake Huron and St. Clair River shorelines.
