On November 28th, the Government of Ontario passed the More Homes Built Faster Act (Bill 23) which include changes to the Conservation Authorities Act and Planning Act. While these changes may impact the permitting role of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) and the ability to review and comment on planning and development applications, Authority operations continue to be “business as usual” until new regulations are implemented.

-
-
- Continue to provide Municipal Plan review and input services to our member municipalities.
- Continue to require applications made under O.R. 171/06 – Interference with wetlands and alterations to shorelines and watercourses for projects within the regulated area of the Authority.
- Have fees charged for our services based on the SCRCA’s Board-approved fee schedule.

The More Homes Built Faster Act was introduced on October 25th and proposed legislative changes to increase the housing supply in Ontario. While the SCRCA recognizes the need to expedite development to address the provincial housing shortage, many of the changes outlined in Bill 23 received widespread opposition.
