The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has awarded its 2022 Scholarships to four deserving students. The conservation scholarship program rewards graduating high school students who are pursuing post-secondary studies in a conservation-related field and who have demonstrated high academic standing and involvement in environmental initiatives.
Tesni Greig-Clarke and Kiersten Denning, both from Strathroy District Collegiate Institute in Strathroy were awarded with the 2022 A.W. Campbell Memorial Scholarships. Tesni will be attending the University of Waterloo this fall pursuing a degree in Knowledge Integration through the Faculty of Environment while Kiersten will be studying Wildlife Biology and Conservation at the University of Guelph.
Clark Dunn, a student at Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School in Sarnia was awarded the Tony Stranak Conservation Scholarship while Heather Scott, also from Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School received the Mary Jo Arnold Conservation Scholarship. Clark will be pursuing a degree in Conservation Biology at Trent University while Heather will be studying Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering at Carleton University.
The scholarship recipients were formally presented with their awards by SCRCA Chair Mike Stark, over the past two weeks. “It is such a delight to meet with our scholarship recipients,” said Stark. “We are happy to provide support to these student as they pursue their post-secondary studies in the environmental field. Their applications were impressive and I’m confident they will play an important role in tackling current and future environmental issues both locally and beyond.”
The scholarships are made possible through trust funds established by the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation and its donors. In total, $3,000 was awarded across the St. Clair Region this year.
