Winds from the north are forecast to gust around 40 km/h over Southern Lake Huron starting early Thursday, increasing throughout the day and into the evening where gusts are anticipated to peak near 65 km/h. Winds are anticipated to slowly subside beginning early Friday and into the afternoon.
Environment Canada is forecasting waves to build to 2 metres Thursday afternoon during the event.
Residents along the Southern Lake Huron shoreline may experience increased wave action and storm surge as a result of the winds, with the possibility of erosion along the shoreline.
Individuals are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.
Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
