- Ice jam on St. Clair River
- Potential for shoreline erosion, flooding
Winds have subsided and water levels have fallen, however long-range wind forecasts show the potential for flood conditions later this week. Current below-seasonal air temperatures across the region will also promote ice creation on Lake Huron, St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair. Residents along the St. Clair River shoreline may experience erosion and/or flooding as a result of impacts from the ice jam.
Residents are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous ice conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
The Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise.
Municipal emergency response staff and road superintendents should monitor local conditions closely.
